Out of the Blue
41,49 €
A hard-hitting, gritty BBC One crime drama series set in a divided Sheffield, featuring a cast of celebrated British acting talent, including John Hannah, Orla Brady, David Morrissey, Lennie James and Neil Dudgeon.
Simply Media are delighted to announce the release of BBC's Out of the Blue: The Complete Collection, on DVD for the very first time 10th July 2017. The fast-paced and intense police procedural was originally broadcast on BBC One from 1995 as 12 episodes across two series.
Out of the Blue follows the professional and private lives of a group of detectives and uniformed police investigating grisly murders and clashing with the community in a hostile, bleak and divided Sheffield.
The crime drama series does not shy away from tackling controversial topics as the team set out to investigate different cases in each episode, such as hate crime, male rape, euthanasia and morality on both sides of the law. This is Britain's answer to popular US crime dramas such as Homicide: Life on the Street.
Series script editor Claire Elliot describes Out of the Blue as "a contemporary, gritty, urban reality. The tight script, fast-paced direction and strong cast make for a powerful and compulsive viewing."
Out of the Blue features an outstanding directing team including BAFTA-winner Richard Laxton (Him & Her), Emmy-nominees Sam Miller (Luther) and Julian Farino (Entourage), and BAFTA-nominees Richard Standeven (Brookside) and David Richards (Silent Witness).
In the first series BAFTA-nominee John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral) stars as D.S. Frank Drinkall (also known as "Frankie"), a high-flying protagonist and head of Brazen Gate CID. His life is turned upside down after being diagnosed with epilepsy, but he stubbornly chooses to carry on with the department's physically and mentally taxing work. Trying to hide his condition from colleagues, he soon finds himself perilously spiralling downwards.
Fiery DS Rebecca Bennett (Orla Brady – Wuthering Heights) finds her work side-tracked by the affections of both DC Warren Allen (Darrell D'Silva) and PC Alex Holder (Stephen Billington – Coronation Street). DC Marty Brazil, played by Neil Dudgeon (Midsomer Murders) offers light comic relief as the effervescent joker in the team.
The second series sees BAFTA-nominee David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) take the reigns as the perpetually ruffled department head D.S. Jim "Lew" Llewyn. But when the rest of the team believe him to be working to his own personal agenda, his actions soon come under investigation.
