Navy intelligence officer Lt Farrell (Kevin Costner) is called into the Pentagon and assigned to investigate the murder of the Defence Secretary's mistress (Sean Young). Trouble is, Farrell was also having an affair with the dead woman and all the evidence he uncovers in his investigation seems to suggest that he was the killer. He claims he is being set up, but then he would say that wouldn't he?
