Mud tells the story of a dangerous but charismatic fugitive (Matthew McConaughey) hiding out from bounty hunters on a remote island on the Mississippi. Discovered living on a boat in a tree by two young boys, Ellis (Tye Sheridan) and Neckbone (Jacob Lofland), an unlikely friendship forms as the boys struggle to help Mud escape his pursuers whilst at the same time reunite him with his long-time love Juniper (Reese Witherspoon).
