Growing up in a household of artists, his constant companions were poets, painters, sculptors and architects. Bugatti was determined to meld his artistic heritage with his love for the automobile. He not only build the all-conquering racecars of the 1920's, he built the worlds rarest and most expensive car, six Bugatti Royales (one of which Volkswagen recently purchased for a reported $15 million). He also built a sleek, aerodynamic train that set a world speed record and boats that beat nearly everyone. Whatever he created had to be beautiful and fast.
