Set in London's East End, 'Pure' tells the story of ten year old Paul, who becomes the caretaker of his younger brother and drug-addicted mother Mel (Molly Parker - Suspicious River), following the death of his father. Alone but for the friendship of feisty young waitress Louise (Keira Knightley - Pirates of the Caribbean), and driven by his deep love for his mother, Paul desperately attempts to help Mel and fend off the unwelcome attention of the local drug dealer and pimp Lenny (David Wenham - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) who is feeding her destructive habit. With a score by acclaimed musician Nitin Sawhney and an exceptional cast - including an award winning performance from newcomer Harry Eden as Paul - Gillies Mackinnon's uncompromising drama is a moving tale of innocence and the strong loving bond between a mother and son.
